“Illumination Books/Cafe” is quietly sitting on the second story of a renovated old building located on Chifeng Street, also known as “the blacksmiths street” back in the day. A 70 year-old, historical building with high ceilings that let in natural light is filled with a low-key aesthetic. The bookstore has a cafe inside that provides free wifi, freshly ground filter coffee, tea drinks, handmade cookies, scones and other light meals. The bookstore is mostly stocked with books about literature, philosophy, social sciences, and cinematography, while hosting all sorts of lectures from time to time.
