The blue bird soaring between dimensions in the book shop does not signify independence and isolation but freedom--because what the blue bird truly signifies is the ability to pursue happiness freely. In a two-dimensional world, independence is a relative term to dependence, a discourse between what is mainstream and non-mainstream. If the basis of freedom is allowed to rebound between certain limits, we can start thinking outside the box and allow bookstores to freely develop into either independent shops or chain stores; replicated or with distinct styles; a future imagination for the media.
