First striking a hit abroad, “Kaonuxu” is also creating a sensation at its origins. At the beginning, they only sold their products online. But after Korean TV shows such as “Grandpas Over Flowers” and Hong Kong foodie platform “Eat and Travel Weekly” reported about them, the store became an instant hit. People started flocking to Taiwan looking for the store only to find there was none! That’s the reason the owners decided to open a “Kaonuxu” Taiwan flagship store.

There’s actually a romantic story to the beginnings of “Kaonuxu” pineapple cakes: a boy and a girl from different countries met in Korea and started dating and in the end fell in love in Taiwan. The Korean girl gave up on becoming a professional ballerina for the Taiwanese boy, in return, the boy learned to make pineapple cakes from a master for the girl. After a year’s efforts, the boy finally finished his training with a 70 year-old pastry master. Then, he spent another 6 months hauling thousands of pineapple cakes along the streets of Korea, letting people try them for free to adjust the flavors. One step at a time, he paved his way back home to Taiwan.

Last year, “Kaonuxu” represented Taiwan at the “2017 Macau International Chef Showcase”. This year, they’ve also been invited to the “2018 Vietnam International Chef Showcase”. It is a great honor for a brand to represent Taiwan and two be invited to an international culinary fair for two consecutive years.
